They said
that the strongest typhoon to enter the Philippines this year is "Labuyo" but for me, a tropical storm "
Maring" and her partner monsoon is the strongest. As I write this blog, Maring is currently wrecking havoc in my
hometown and nearby provinces. I heard
from the news that Cainta is 80% submerged in water that means that I am the remaining 20% that is safe, dry and
not affected. Luckily our area is not
affected and we are located in phase IV
, the highest part our subdivision.
I am stuck in
the house since Sunday and now is Wednesday! it's been the long four days in my
life heheh just kidding. Lastweek, I am
very excited and looking forward for Aug 21 holiday because I have a free time,
I can rest and do everything I want . But now
I cannot do anything and I am
thinking how I can spend my free time. As I open the internet, It's devastating
to see the photos and videos on the news - roads and houses underwater, people
on the roof of their houses seeking refuge as they have no other place to go
and relief operations in different parts of NCR & CALABARZON. It is
devastating and saddening if you read
the news when I open my Facebook account it's a mix reaction and makes me smile
and makes me even prouder to be a Filipino.
A tourist was
interviewed by GMA news as he alighted from a side car "padyak" that
brought him to the airport due to the flooding. He was hurrying to catch his
flight. All that he uttered when asked about what he thinks about the situation
was "It's more fun really in the Philippines"! - sounding sarcastic
to others but for me what he is trying to say is even there is a calamity in
our country, the Filipino Spirit is
still there, helping each other, staying
together in times of trouble, being strong all the time and showing them that
we find ways to make other happy even in a small way and even in this difficult
time.
